No one can teach you

It’s already in you.

This year one of the biggest things I had to learn was to trust in myself, my abilities and rest in how God made me.

Let me explain:

I wanted to be a preacher so I became i thought I needed seminary. God blocked me from that. I wanted to finish my book writing so I took a writing class, God blocked me from that. I wanted to finish my sneaker design so I signed up for a sneaker design course. God blocked me from that. None of these courses worked for me, because God told me THE WAY I DESIGNED YOU NO ONE CAN TEACH YOU.

You see the picture of Mariano Rivera above. He is the best closing pitcher in baseball history. That is out of millions of people who tried to make a baseball team and thousands who were in the league he is the #1. Why was he number one? Well because he has this one pitch called the cutter. He developed this pitched by accident. According to a source “ during warm ups one day, Rivera noticed his fastball was moving uncontrollably, for a month he struggled to control his fastball until he decided to EMBRACE the movement and develop his legendary CUTTER”

He developed this by accident! This “movement” was already inside of him. You see he even tried to control it, I’m sure the experts and pitching staff were like “hey you have to cut this out of your pitching rotation” but guess what HE EMBRACED IT. I remember on a interview one day he said it was directly from God.

What has God given you to embrace?

For me there were so many things I was scared to embrace and even sometimes feel like it wasn’t even that good. All my life I truly thought everyone knew had to dress and it came easy to them until I realized it didn’t. I don’t know why every time I am in a room and get up in the morning I just put things together and it just “fits”. It’s directly from God. Gifts are from God.

The true heart and motivation behind this post is when I took this writing course it actually confused me and stunted my writing! I actually never have “writers block” but then when I took this course I actually started to get writers block because I was trying to write in a way that was unnatural to me and it wasn’t the way God designed me to write.

What put the icing on the cake was when I heard a sermon by one of my favorite preachers Joyce Meyer she said she never went to college, never took a writing course and when her friends asked her how to write a book she said “I couldn’t even teach them, I just sit down and write. It just comes from the my spirit”

See, that’s exactly how I felt! I truly believe if God has equipped you to write a book you will already have the tools. Okay yes we need to have grammar, punctuations and know how to put together a sentence but once you have the fundamentals down, you can do ANYTHING.

In baseball, Mariano Rivera had the fundamentals down, he knew how to throw, he knew the mechanics but his signature pitch no one could teach him.

NO ONE CAN TEACH YOU YOUR SIGNATURE.

The root meaning for signature is “a distinguishing mark of any kind” you see this is where believing God and the Bible comes into play.

God said before he formed us in our mothers womb, he set us apart.

““Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.””

A signature mean “a distinguishing mark” well we were marked before time.

“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were MARKED in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God created us before time and we are his masterpiece!

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

All the works that is ahead of us, whether in our jobs, our dreams our desires. If he put it there that means he already put something inside of us to solve that solution! That is the way the KINGDOM works not the world. The world will tell you that you need a masters, PHD and some other certification in order to fulfill your destiny but that’s not always true.

ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS SPEND TIME WITH JESUS. You want proof? Look what happened to Peter who was the rock that Jesus built god church on and John who was “the disciple Jesus loved”

“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were UNSCHOOLED, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

In other words YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED INSIDE OF YOU!

STOP SECOND GUESSING YOURSELF AND HESITATING. LET IT COME OUT AND LET IF FLOW. JUST BE YOU.

So how do you operate in your signature?

Well example if you want to write, just write, and don’t judge yourself. Just write, anything goes. And make sure to do it at least everyday. When you do this practice nothing is right or wrong. Some days you won’t be motivated but just show up and get yourself to the pen and paper, iPhone, or keyboard anyway. And something great will show up. The keyword is “show up” all you have to do it show up and God will take care of the rest. And eventually you will get better and better and better.

Now there are case where maybe you might need a book on a subject or a class or something. But always take what someone says with a grain of salt because it should never override your signature of how you do it. Don’t ever try to be like someone else.

Did someone teach Michael Jackson to wear one glove? No. Teach someone teach Michael Jordan how to do those high flying dunks? No. Did someone teach Derek Jeter how to do his flying throw? No. These are called LEARNED ON THE JOB SIGNATURES. Ahhhh! You see if you’re not moving you will never find your signature. You can’t be sitting still and find it. It’s only when you step out that you will find out.

What is a desire in your heart that you can want to try? Create a sneaker? Try it drawing one. Make a YouTube video? Get your camera out and talk. Just step out and try it, like the old saying goes. “You might be a poet and may not even know it” which is very true.

Have FAITH that God will always provide the answer and the way after each step.

Prayer:

Father God, I want to thank you for giving us a all a unique signature. I pray that you give us the boldness and the audacity to step into it. To let us know we don’t need to do it the way the world does it or copy how someone else does it but we need to step out and do it how you designed us to do it. I pray for increase of creativity and increase of discipline so we can do what you have called us to do. Thank you for doing everything on the cross already. Thank you for thinking of us before time and knitting us in our mothers womb. Thank you for letting us know to keep it simple, the world always wants to complicate things but you keep it simple. You said loving one another as yourself sums up the whole law. That’s all we need. I pray you give us the audacity and spirit to operate in love today and not in fear. Thank you Jesus! And we pray all these amazing things in Jesus mighty powerful name AMEN!
